DESCRIPTION:This one-day interactive workshop is designed to build the skill and confidence of healthcare leaders to effectively manage critical workplace conversations. As a leader\, it is essential to develop your ability to effectively manage challenging and/or difficult situations\, personalities and groups in the workplace\, and to confidently handle situations that don’t go as planned. The workshop will provide participants with knowledge\, tools and strategies for understanding how conflict begins\, when and how to have a difficult conversation\, managing group dynamics\, and how to control nerves and anxieties in uncomfortable circumstances. You will have an opportunity to practice giving feedback using common workplace scenarios\, and managing situations when feedback goes badly or conversations go off track.  The course will be taught by Barbara Langlois\, RN\, BSN\, MSN\, who is an author and leadership & communication expert. DESCRIPTION:In 2018\, the Public Health Agency of Canada released the Mycoplasma genitalium chapter for the first time as part of the Canadian Guidelines on Sexually Transmitted Infections. Mycoplasma genitalium is an emerging sexually transmitted pathogen that can cause non-chlamydial/non-gonococcal urethritis. DESCRIPTION:There is a current crisis with the use of opioid drugs in many parts of Canada that is having an impact on consumers of these drugs and the general population. In 2016 there was an estimated 2458 overdose deaths related to opioids in Canada\, and there has been an increased demand for emergency responders and healthcare professionals to react to this significant health issue. \nThis Harm Reduction Symposium will bring together many stakeholders to raise awareness\, educate and enhance harm reduction collaboration.

An extensive array of participating organizations include women’s shelters\, women’s centres\, Partner Assault Response (PAR) programs\, men’s treatment programs\, family therapists\, restorative justice facilitators\, probation offices\, police\, crown prosecutors\, judges\, victim services officers\, children mental health workers\, child protection workers\, addiction counselors\, health care workers\, clergy\, educators and others engaged in direct service. DESCRIPTION:Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI) refers to a category of injuries involving damage to muscles\, tendons and nerves caused by overuse or misuse. \nEach year much of Ontario’s workforce sustain Repetitive Strain Injuries\, more workers sustain RSIs than all other occupational injuries combined. These injuries are also increasingly being reported by students and others in our communities. What is both troubling and a source of encouragement is knowing RSIs are preventable. \nWorkplace injuries such as repetitive strain injuries (RSI’s) affect 15% or over 5 million Canadians.  To increase awareness on these issues\, the Occupational Health Clinics for Ontario Workers (OHCOW) is pleased to offer RSI Day+.
