SUMMARY:XXII World Congress on Safety and Health at Work
DESCRIPTION:The XXII World Congress on Safety and Health at Work is a global forum for advancing worker health protection taking place every three years in a different country. Global thought leaders and experts from the international occupational safety and health community will be coming together in September 2021 to discuss Prevention in the Connected Age: Global Solutions to Achieve Safe and Healthy Work for All. \nOver the past seven decades the World Congress has marked important developments in the world of work and in prevention. The XXII World Congress will continue this tradition and bring you thought leadership\, knowledge and experience that reflects the realities of prevention in today’s world of work. \nThe theme for the XXII World Congress reflects the fact that today\, the world is highly connected. This connectivity has been enabled and accelerated through mechanisms such as global supply chains and technology allowing for the rapid exchange of data\, knowledge\, processes and practices that create challenges and opportunities for protecting the safety and health of workers. While this theme continues to be relevant\, we are now faced with a public health crisis that is changing the shape of our lives\, and our work: COVID-19. And as we all adapt to this new and evolving reality\, our plans for the XXII World Congress must also adapt. \nWe first made the decision to postpone to September 19-22\, 2021. Now\, we are exploring virtual options that will enhance the Congress programming we will be offering in Toronto\, and which will allow the World Congress to become an even more global event. We are also examining our outreach\, marketing\, and programming to make sure they are relevant\, and timely. \nFor more information visit: https://www.safety2021canada.com/

SUMMARY:Pharmacology of Alcohol Use Disorder - Webinar
DESCRIPTION:You’re invited for our next educational webinar: \nPharmacology of Alcohol Use Disorder \nWith Dr. Tim Ayas MD FRCPC CCFP MPH BSc\nClinical Assistant Professor\, University of Calgary\nPsychiatrist\, EHN Sandstone \nAlcohol is by far the most commonly used drug by Canadians. There is relatively easy access\, it is prominent in the media\, and drinking culture often permeates the lives of young people. Moreover\, it can become an unhealthy coping mechanism – a quick and temporary solution for those under immense stress or who are struggling with mental health. “In 2017\, the rate of hospitalizations entirely caused by alcohol (249 per 100\,000) was comparable to the rate of hospitalizations for heart attacks (243 per 100\,000) and the rate was thirteen times higher than for opioids.” (Canadian Centre for Substance Use and Addiction) With the pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic\, the problem has only continued to worsen. \nIn this webinar\, Dr. Tim Ayas takes our attention back to alcohol\, one of the oldest sources of substance addiction. Join us for this educational session on alcohol use disorder\, what it is and how to medically approach treatment\, presented by one of our experienced psychiatrists based at EHN Sandstone in Calgary\, AB. \nThe discussion points in this webinar include: \n\nDefinition and epidemiology of Alcohol Use Disorder\nImpact of COVID-19 on Alcohol Use Disorder\nEvidence-based overview of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments\nIntroduction to local treatment programs\n\nWebinar Info: \nDate: Thursday June 17th\nTime: 12pm – 1pm EST (9am – 10am PST)\nCost: COMPLIMENTARY \nThis webinar provides 1.0 CEU credits recognized by: \n\nCACCF (Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation)\nCCPA (Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association)\nMDPAC (Medical Psychotherapy Association Canada)\nCVRP (College of Vocational Rehabilitation Professionals)\n\nTo learn more or register\, click the link below:\nhttps://ehncanada.zoom.us/webinar/register/7116228428126/WN_esE3FCfJTIGcWP1CBlpDgw \nSincerely\, \nDr. Suanne Wong MBBS\nEHN Canada\nswong@ehncanada.com\nwww.ehncanada.com \n
