Fitness for Duty Summit

October 2 - October 9

DriverCheck is currently gearing up for their 2nd Annual Fitness for Duty Summit. This year’s event will be held in Edmonton, Alberta on October 2 and 3. The inaugural event held last year in Milton, Ontario, hosted 350 attendees and received an overwhelmingly positive response. This year’s event is expected to be even bigger!

This educational, two-day event will address some of the workplace challenges employers face in their effort to create a healthy and safe work environment. Delivering an abundance of valuable information, useful resources, and expert insight, this year’s lineup of diverse speakers will touch on a variety of relevant topics, both from physical and mental health perspectives.

Topics covered will include:

  • Removing the Mask: Creating Wellness in the Workplace
  • Cannabis in the Workplace: 1 Year Later
  • Recent Rulings: Implications for Company Alcohol and Drug Policies
  • Continuing the Quest for an Impairment Test
  • Random Testing Programs – A Panel Discussion
  • Healthy Minds, Healthy Workplace – Psychological Health & Safety in Your Organization
  • Opioid Use & Workplace Safety
  • Making the Most of Your Employee Assistance and Substance Abuse Programs
  • Injury Management: Easing the Pain
  • Supervisor Training (Reasonable Cause) – a certificate will be awarded at the end of the training

What is Fitness for Duty?

Fitness for Duty programs differ from company to company, and typically include some form of medical testing and/or assessment(s). Whether conducted for an existing employee, or a potential candidate, testing such as alcohol and drug testing, pre-placement medicals, audiograms etc. may be performed to determine whether an individual is physically and/or psychologically fit to perform the job. The results of this medical testing conclude whether or not an individual has the ability to complete the essential functions of a job, and do so safely.

Registration

Space is limited and tickets will be approved on a first come, first serve basis. The price of admission is $625 plus applicable taxes. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on both days, and DriverCheck will be hosting a social gathering in the evening of October 2nd. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Delta Hotel by Marriott Edmonton South, where the Summit is being held.
